Step-by-Step Guide to Setting Up Microsoft Smart Network Data Services (SNDS)
Setting up Microsoft Smart Network Data Services (SNDS) allows you to monitor the reputation of your IP addresses when sending emails. However, SNDS cannot directly monitor domains, as it is specifically designed to track the reputation and activity of IP addresses used for sending emails to Microsoft’s email services (e.g., Outlook, Hotmail, and Live).
It does not provide insights or data related to domains.
Step 1: Access the SNDS Portal
- Visit the Microsoft SNDS portal.
- Log in with your Microsoft account.
- After logging in, click on "Request Access" to add your IP addresses.
Step 2: Add Your IP Addresses
- Enter the IP address or the range of IPs you want to monitor (e.g.,
192.168.0.1
or192.168.0.0/24
). - Specify an email address that will receive SNDS reports and verification messages.
Step 3: Verify Ownership of IP Addresses
- Microsoft sends a verification email to the registered abuse contact of the IP addresses.
- Ensure your IP addresses are correctly registered with a valid abuse contact in the WHOIS database.
- Respond to the verification email to complete the ownership confirmation.
Use a WHOIS lookup tool to confirm the abuse contact email is correct
Step 4: Review the SNDS Dashboard
Once your IPs are verified, you’ll gain access to the SNDS dashboard. The dashboard provides information such as:
- Spam complaints
- IP reputation (e.g., green, yellow, or red status)
- Email volume statistics
- Spam trap hits
